General Questions

Q: Do you work in the rain?

A: Only heavy rain or high winds prevent us from working. With our method of window cleaning, light rain doesn’t affect the quality of our window cleaning and should we work only when the weather was fine we could never be reliable.

Q: My back gate is always locked.

A: No problem. We can give you a call the night before we are due to clean the windows or send a text message; most customers provide us with a spare key.

Q: My windows were cleaned today for the first time but there seems to be spots on the glass!

A: Although every attempt is made to prevent this; on first cleans, we are removing a lot of dirt from frames. We also need to remove all the old soap and dirt from under the seals between glass and frames. Unavoidably some spotting may appear but these will disappear after a couple cleans when your frames and seals are clean, resulting in spotless glass from thereafter.

Q: My windows are old and they leak when you clean them?

A: If you let us know we will rectify the problem, if the windows are at ground level we will clean them using Traditional Methods.

Q: My window cleaner has stopped calling, why?

A: We will only stop calling if you owe us money from two previous cleans. We will commence cleaning once this has been paid for.

Q: Will it be the same price if I had my windows cleaned every 8 weeks as opposed to 4 weeks?

A: The price of your clean may be priced a little more, to compensate for the extra dirt on the windows and the extra water we use, but over the year you will still save money.

Payment Questions

Q: If I’m not at home at the time of cleaning, how can I pay you?

A: That’s not a problem, a stamped addressed envelope and a mini invoice will be left for you to post a cheque that evening. Alternatively you can pay via our Make a Payment section of this website. If preferred we can set up a Standing Order.

Q: Can you come and collect the money I owe you?

A: We don’t normally collect for security reasons; in this day and age there are too many criminals about who pretend to be working for companies, like us. These people go on to collect innocent people’s money. If you have any difficulties paying us via any of these methods, please let us know and we will call for the money.

Q: I have received a letter today, stating that I have not sent payment

A: If you have already paid us please contact us and we will resolve this issue. If you have not sent payment please send the amount owed or contact us to make an arrangement.

Water Fed Poles Questions

Q: How does the Water Fed Pole system work?

A: On top of the pole is a nylon brush head with a small channel that jets out a constant supply of pure water, this water is pumped from a tank in the back of van, then through deionising vessels, finally up to the window. First we clean the frames and then the glass by moving the brush head (which is constantly wet) over them. We then rinse the windows and frames and leave to dry to a spot free finish.

Q: How can pure water not leave any marks or droplets?

A: Unlike bottled water, rain or tap water which contains mineral deposits, pollution, calcium and chemicals our water is stripped of every element and is pure in every sense. We do this by using a technique called Deionization, which is a filtration process. The end result is 100% laboratory grade pure water. Because of its purity, quite simply nothing can deposit on the windows which are always left spot free.

Q: What is Deionization?

A: Removal of ions. The term is generally used with respect to removal of ions from water. Deionization is commonly achieved by passing the water through successive ion exchange columns. In one column, ions are exchanged for H+ ions. In another column, anions are exchanged for OH- ions. Following a reaction of H+ with OH- ions, no ions remain in solution.

Q: Is it safe?

A: Yes. Because the operators work from the safety of the ground and no ladders or other equipment are used.

Q: Are the poles heavy and how do you control it so high?

A: The poles are made from high quality carbon fibre which is a very light but extremely strong material. As it is so strong and durable we can easily control the poles without too much friction or bend.

Q: Can the water damage or stain my property or building?

A: No. More damage is caused from pollution in the rain or atmosphere.

Reach & Wash

We have tried to cover the most common topics and questions that clients ask. However, if you have a question that is not answered on this page, or you require further information, please contact us and we will be happy to discuss your query. Alternatively click on the technical page.

Q: How does using the Reach and Wash system save us money?

A: In the window cleaning industry prices are inflated due to risk, the greater the risk the higher the price, as danger money is then applied. Also the hiring of expensive cherry pickers and using abseiling techniques inflates prices greatly. Because there is no risk and no high access equipment required, we can pass on these savings to our clients.

Q: How much money will the Reach and Wash system save us?

A: In terms of how much is a difficult one to answer as every job is different and has its own problems and complexities? However through past experience and customer feedback, on average, we are saving our clients around 30-40% of their total window cleaning costs, by using this system. This is in comparison with the more conventional methods used before, such as ladders etc.

Q: Is it safe?

A: Yes. Because the operators work from the safety of the ground and no ladders or other equipment are used.

Q: What method do you use to clean the windows?

A: On top of the pole is a nylon brush head with a small channel that jets out a constant supply of pure water.

We do this by using a technique called reverse osmosis which is a filtration process. The end result is 100% laboratory graded pure water. Because of it’s purity, quite simply nothing can deposit on the windows which are always left spot free.

Q: How do you get a constant supply of water and where do you treat it?

A: Our water is treated on our premises using a 10 hour, 5 stage filtration process. When this process is completed we transfer the water into our specially adapted vans which have 1000 litre holding tanks. We then transport this water on site where it is pumped through the carbon fibre poles onto brush heads and ultimately onto the area to be cleaned.

Q: Are any chemicals used during this filtration process?

A: No. All filters contain natural elements such as salt, resin beads and carbon sediment and are environmentally safe.

Q: Do you give free demonstrations and quotations?

A: Yes. We regularly give free, no obligation demonstrations and quotations. All demonstrations are carried out by normal members of staff, not sales representatives.

Q: Do you supply and sell the Reach and Wash Pole cleaning system?

No.

Q: Are there certain types of windows that are not ideal for the Reach and Wash system?

A: Yes, although the Reach and Wash system will clean the glazed surface optically perfect, sometimes we face difficulties with certain window types such as older style aluminum windows. This is due to the oxidation (a little like copper and brass) on the framed surface, caused by exposer to the elements.
What actually happens is; the pure water draws out the salts in the frames that react and can cause a slight haze effect on the window. However, usually after 2-3 cleans this will get better and by accurate rinsing can be avoided. Although, the client is usually happy.

Q: Apart from aluminum frames, are there other instances when the window will haze or spot?

A: Pure water does not dry to a haze or spot so there is has to be a reason for this. The most common reasons is when we introduce a pole system for the first time to a building that has previously been cleaned by conventional methods such as soap and water. The highly concentrated soap residue (usually fairy liquid), leaves a film on the glass surface and builds up deposits in the actual frame itself. Once we flush this out and clean the window, it can leave for the first 2-3 cleans a slight haze and the occasional spotting. This will improve with each clean and will be noticeably better. To tackle this, clear view will usually use offer a pre-clean to the frames before the initial visit.
